Head - Consumer Lending

We are looking for a dynamic Head of Consumer Lending to take charge of a high-impact business vertical in Zambia!
Reporting to the Country CEO & Group Head – Retail and Products, this role is your chance to shape strategy, optimize profitability, and steer the future of Consumer Lending function.



Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify and document Functional and Achieve Interest Income target
• Achieve Loan Book Growth Targets
• Reduce provisions
• Maintain NPL with set targets
• Ensure good performance of the loan book
• Ensure Write-offs and Restructure are adequately managed
• Accurate and proactive cost management of the entire Consumer Lending Business Vertical
• Ensure adequate and successful loan book management adhering to NPL limits and Collections Percentages
• Constantly review and update Consumer Lending Credit Policy in line with loan book Performance results
• Recoveries Management – Loss/write-off accounts
• Ensure Good Business Governance – Internal Audit Items, AML and CFT Training
• Ensure internal and external auditors are well managed and all information is delivered in a timely manner to ensure success in audits
• Ensure accurate and adequate management of Life Insurance and Insurance Brokers
• Ensure all credit requirements for the Consumer Lending Business Vertical
• Manage the entire Consumer Lending Business Vertical Team
• Foster the implementation and execution of the Bank’s Values and Beliefs
• Attend all Board, EXCO and Management Committees with the correct and updated information
• Report accurately to all Board and Local Management Committees
• Manage Human Resources in the Consumer Lending Department, Mentor & Guide staff, ensure growth and adherence of the Bank’s culture and expectation and Values
• People Management for the entire department with direct reports to ensure their team is adequately managed for cost
• Ensure all reporting is delivered on time and in full
• Reporting – Locally to internal stakeholders and externally to Group apparatus
• Ensure Business Vertical Systems are correctly managed

Qualifications and Experience
• A Masters or postgraduate degree from an accredited university
• Degree in finance, banking, business or related area
• minimum of 7 years non-banking financial services and knowledge of retail loans and Micro lending
• Candidates need to have 4+ years senior management experience
